Join us at The Collider’s first Climate Data Hackathon. We’ve partnered with Counter Culture Coffee to identify climate-related challenges facing the coffee industry.
Coffee is a particularly climate-sensitive crop, so even small changes in temperature and precipitation can dramatically impact quality, yield, and price. And it’s not just your cup of coffee at stake, but also the livelihoods of coffee farmers around the world.
Hackathon Goal
Mine NOAA and NASA weather and climate data and Population Explorer demographic data to help coffee companies and producers better understand their climate risks. Help build data-driven solutions for climate adaptation and resilience.
Winners will have the opportunity to present at our conference on climate risks and opportunities for the food and beverage industry, [Food + Beverage] Collider.

Play with Data
Did you know Asheville is home to the world’s largest collection of climate data? NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information houses over 37 petabytes of environmental data and is headquartered right here. At the Climate Data Hackathon, you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with a host of publicly available datasets with the help of expert data navigators. Coffee industry experts will also be on hand.
The most useful datasets for the coffee industry climate challenges will be collected in advance of the Hackathon. More details to come.
