Science Pub: The World Food Challenge

January 18, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join Asheville Museum of Science at The Collider for the next edition of Science Pub, a free Friday night guest speaker series offered by AMOS.  The program is free and open to the public, with donations accepted at the door. It takes place at The Collider in downtown Asheville, on the top floor of the Wells Fargo building at 1 Haywood St. Attendees are invited to enjoy light bites provided by Ingles Markets and refreshments provided by Asheville Brewers Alliance before settling in for a fascinating night of science.

Contrary to popular belief, there is currently more than enough food in the world to feed everyone on the planet. However, the world’s population is projected to grow to more than 9.8 billion people by 2050, and with increasing demand and growing constraints on the capacity of our food systems, figuring out how to feed the world’s population while protecting critical ecosystems will be one of the greatest challenges of our era.
