Rolling Stone editor and author of “The Water Will Come” makes a stop at The Collider on Nov. 14; interviews available
Across the globe, sea levels are rising, with higher and higher tides pushing more water directly into the places people live. In the wake of recent hurricanes, flooding, and Asheville experiencing its second-wettest October on record, The Collider, a nonprofit innovation center focused on climate, presents a free public event on Nov. 14 related to water and climate change.
WHAT:
“An Evening with Jeff Goodell,” featuring the Rolling Stone contributing editor and author of the new book, “The Water Will Come: Rising Seas, Sinking Cities, and the Remaking of the Civilized World.” In his book (and at this event), Jeff Goodell addresses the coming water, why and how this will happen, what it will all mean — and what needs to be done about it.
Free and open to the public, the event includes a reception sponsored by Climate Optimize and Infrastructure Services Group LLC.
Due to limited space, tickets are required. Tickets are available at Eventbrite or follow a link from the homepage at thecollider.org. **NEWS MEDIA do not need tickets but you are encouraged to contact Kathi Petersen if a seat is desired.**
WHEN:
Tuesday, Nov. 14, 6-8 pm (Doors open with reception, 6pm; Program, 6:30-7:30pm; Reception continues 7:30-8pm)
WHERE:
The Collider, located on the top floor of the Wells Fargo building at 1 Haywood St., downtown Asheville. Parking is available in several nearby parking garages. **NEWS MEDIA should call Kathi Petersen – 828-712-1286 if doors to the building are locked.**
WHO:
In addition to Goodell, the event will include brief remarks by program sponsor and Collider member Tom Barr, CEO of Climate Optimize LLC and a new company, Infrastructure Services Group LLC. Barr is a veteran transaction- and operations-focused entrepreneur with decades in energy, water, wastewater, infrastructure, and laboratories.
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
Both Jeff Goodell and Tom Barr are available for media interviews prior to Nov. 14 or on-site on Nov. 14 (Barr commenting on the “bridge” between climate science and global water demand). CONTACT KATHI PETERSEN to arrange.
